I never knew Lake Ontario could look SO beautiful!!! I actually had to goggle which body of water this was, since it was so warm and crystal clear! This beautiful park is located in Picton, Ontario, surrounded by wineries, and is definitely somewhere to put on your bucket list!
It is $17 per car to get into this park, so pack your car full of friends for the best value! Head over to Dunes Beach for the softest white sand you will ever put your feet in (In Ontario, that is!) The water was like a bath when i went in July- so don't forget your bathing suite! If you are looking for some exsersise , there is a really cool hike you can do by Dunes Beach with great views!
There is a hike that goes from Dunes beach to the main beach, but that was a litttttttle long for us on this HOT summer day, so we chose the driving option! (NOTE: there are usually cops sitting at the 4 way cross stop signs in the main intersection, so make sure you make a lonnnngggg, fullllll stop here-I got a ticket for doing a rolling stop :( put a bit of a damper on my day-guess I was too excited to get to the beach!!!)
The Main beach is called Outlet beach, and the water was beautiful, clear, warm and I felt like I was in California! People were boogy boarding in the small waves which looked really fun- I wish I came prepared! There is camping available here as well, but be sure to book in advance, as it is quite a popular spot- and I can see why!
From Toronto, it is about 2.5 hours to get here if you drive straight, but if you want to make a weekend of it, the next day can be spent winery hopping, which sounds like a perfect weekend to me!! On your way home, don't forget to stop into George's Fish and Chips for some dinner and ice cream!
